Project Type
Speculative Thesis
University of Oregon M. Arch Thesis Project, 2025.
Edge -70° reimagines the role of architecture in one of the most extreme environments on Earth: Antarctica. This speculative project resists both permanence and exploitation, prioritizing resilience over dominance.
At its core, the building becomes a geopolitical and environmental actor, a transient space that adapts to the shifting realities of its context. It serves not only as shelter but as a statement of survival, a symbol of collective commitment to sustainability and ethical practice in the face of global challenges.
By embracing the fragility of its surroundings, Edge -70° questions what architecture can be in a world increasingly defined by ecological and political boundaries. It is an architecture of listening, not conquering; a flexible response to an uncertain future, where every choice is a direct reflection of our values and our role in the planet's larger ecosystem.
